Sambo is a martial art self defense system that began in the former Soviet Union. It's name is an acronym that means "Self defense without a weapon." In Sambo, you become the weapon. Rear heel hooks are used to knock the opponent off balance.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderate

Step1
Stand in front of your opponent and grip him around the shoulders.
Step2
Swing around to the side of your opponent. Move your body below his waist. Bend your knees and your back to avoid any attacks.
Step3
From behind, slide your hands between your opponent's legs.
Step4
Flip over onto your back. Pull your legs into your chest. Wrap one leg around your opponent's leg. Keep your other leg bent with your knee in his crotch.
Step5
Lean backward. Grip your opponent's leg and force him to the ground with you. Your weight knocks him off balance. Remember to keep your legs locked around him so he can't maneuver out of the hold.
Step6
Twist the opponent's foot until she maneuvers out of the hold or taps out. Practice the move slowly until you do it with ease before attempting to use this in competition or combat.

Tips & Warnings

  • When practicing this move, do not twist the opponent's heel too hard. Just hold it in place. Twisting the heel too hard can injure your practice partner.
