The Russian style of martial arts is called Sambo and it utilizes takedowns, locks, strikes and other defenses. The rolling arm bar move is designed to attack an opponent is on his hands and knees in the "turtle position."

Difficulty: Moderate
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Position yourself at your opponent's side. Step over him with one leg. Place your leg between his belt and his shoulders. Your leg position is critical to an effective rolling arm bar.

  2. Step 2

Grab the opponent's belt with one hand and the back of her shirt with the other. Lift up and stand tall at the same time. This pulls your opponent out of her crouch.

  3. Step 3

Push the foot that you have over your opponent forward. Place it underneath him so he can't crouch into a turtle position again. Do this in one swift motion. This prepares your foot for the Sambo roll.

  4. Step 4

Roll forward and pull your attacker onto her back. Throw your feet over her chest while you grab one of her arms. This forces her to tap out or to roll into you. If you keep your legs down over the opponent, she won't be able to roll.

Tips & Warnings
  • Practice the rolling arm bar with a partner.
  • Use floor mats when practicing Sambo to avoid injury.
