How to Ride a Dirt Bike

Motocross is a popular sport for the young and old. Hundreds of people ride dirt bikes for competition or simply just for fun. Before climbing on your bike, put on a helmet, knee pads and elbow pads. Although riding a dirt bike is fun, it also can be very dangerous.

Instructions
  1. Step 1

    Straddle the seat. Make sure your feet reach the ground comfortably and that all of the mirrors are adjusted to fit your height.

  2. Step 2

    Start the dirt bike with the key and rev the engine a few times to get it running smoothly. Allow it to run for a few minutes to warm up properly.

  3. Step 3

    Use the foot brake and the hand brake simultaneously, especially when you are coming up on a corner.

  4. Step 4

    Make a smooth turn around a corner by following an arching line. Lean into the turn, but don't lean too far or the bike may fall.

  5. Step 5

    Look ahead. Always face forward and watch for obstacles on the road.
