Assume a proper stance. Keep the feet roughly shoulder-width apart and the knees slightly bent. To test the balance of a stance, have someone push you relatively hard. If you loose your balance, the stance is not solid.
-
2
Keep the body level and move everything in one motion. In other words, do not move the feet without moving the head and arms accordingly. The body should move fluidly back and forth in a solid stance.

3
Perform as much roadwork as possible. Roadwork consists jogging at a decent pace. Running keeps your feet active and improves balance.
-
4
Maintain the proper punch level. Don't overpunch. Putting too much force behind a punch can throw you off-balance. Throw punches with controlled power while maintaining a stable stance.
-
5
Use shadowboxing and bag work to improve footwork and balance. Shadowboxing is boxing against air. For beginners, this will seem awkward at first but this is an excellent tool to help your balance. Bag work is just hitting the big bag or the speed bag while maintaining proper footwork and balance.
