A good steam is a successful and simple remedy for acne treatment. Whether you receive a steam treatment in a professional spa or salon or perform your own facial steam at home, there are a few things that you can do afterwards to enhance the pore cleansing effects.

Difficulty: Moderate
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Facial mask or pore strips containing salicylic acid
  • Extractor tool
  • Oil-free moisturizer with SPF
  1. Step 1

Apply a mask to your skin after your steam. This can act as an additional remedy for problem blackheads and severe acne problems. If you are receiving a steam in a spa or salon, request a facial mask after your treatment. The mask should contain salicylic acid, which will deeply penetrate blackheads. Over-the-counter pore strips also work.

  2. Step 2

Leave the mask on for the recommended period of time, and wash with warm water. Pat your skin dry with a soft clean towel.

  3. Step 3

Use a professional extractor tool to further pull impacted dirt out of blackheads and problem acne. It is important that you use a tool rather than popping your pimples with your hands. Your hands, no matter how much you wash them, are covered in natural oils that will aggravate acne and blackheads. Extractors will not harm your delicate skin.

  4. Step 4

Rinse your face with warm water and pat dry. Apply a light, oil-free moisturizer with SPF factor to protect your fresh and healthy skin after your acne remedy. Repeat your steam remedy once a week until your skin clears, and then continue as needed. Clean your face morning and night and apply an oil-free sunblock everyday.
