Perform an ace-king setup before considering how to maintain it. If you do it correctly, your audience won't realize that you have already put the cards in the right order for the setup before the show. This is one of the easiest magic tricks.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Take a new deck of cards and inspect their order. Notice the two jokers are first, and the rest of the cards are all together in the same suit, from king down through ace.

  2. Step 2

Hold the deck of cards face up, take off the top card and lay it face up on the table. The card you just laid down was an ace. Continue this act until you have put down all of the cards. It is not important which suit goes first, second, third or fourth.

  3. Step 3

Allow someone to cut the deck. You can actually allow as many people as possible to cut the deck, as long as they do not shuffle. Place the deck face up on a tabletop.

  4. Step 4

Notice that it doesn't matter how you cut the deck. The cards are still in ace-king order. The beginning and ending points are all that have changed. Having someone cut the deck adds credence to your trick.

  5. Step 5

Use the palm of your hand to spread the cards across the table in a straight line or a circle. Use just enough force to move each card so that it displays the number of the previous card. Pat the cards so that all numbers show and everyone is aware that the cards are still in ace-king order.

  6. Step 6

Deal off the top three cards, once you have shown the deck is in ace-king order. You already know what they are (ace, king, and queen). Put a small pinch of your skin between two cards as the recipient takes the cards. When you cut the deck, in order to add the cards they give you, the first three cards will go into the right place.
