How to Choose Shoes for Tennis
If you are a tennis player, a good pair of tennis shows is every bit as important as a good racquet. Even if you are a beginner, shoes that fit properly will prevent your feet from getting tired and sore and will allow you to stay on the court longer.

1
Try on the shoes and make sure there's at least a half an inch of space between your longest toe and the toe of the shoe. Make sure the heel doesn't slide on your foot and that the shoes allow movement but don't slip.
-
2
Look for shoes that are flexible enough to bend at the ball of the foot, but not so flexible that the shoe will be stiff and uncomfortable.

3
Remember that your feet aren't the exactly the same size, so select the size for your larger foot, if necessary, or use an insole to pad the smaller foot's shoe.
-
4
Choose shoes with strong lateral support. When you play tennis, you will be running from side to side and lateral support will prevent turning your ankle. Lateral support is especially important if you are heavy.
-
5
Select shoes with good cushioning for shock absorption, especially if you play tennis on hard courts.
