It's easy to straighten your hair with just a brush and a blow dryer. With some practice, you can give yourself a beauty salon blow out and look fashionable for your next night out.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderately Easy

Things You’ll Need:

  • Paddle or round brush
  • Hair product
  • Blow dryer
  • Flatiron

Step1
Apply straightening serum to wet hair from root to tip with your fingers and spread through with a wide tooth comb. Use mousse for fine hair, or gel or wax for thick hair.
Step2
Section your hair off with clips. Divide your hair into three or four sections. Use metal or salon style clips to section your hair and place a small piece of tissue paper between the hair and the clip. This will prevent the clips from causing creases and wrinkles in your hair.
Step3
Begin with the back section and use a boar's bristle paddle brush to straighten hair or a round bristle brush to give the hair texture and volume.
Step4
Pull the brush down the hair shaft while aiming the blow dryer from above. Pointing the heat down the hair shaft will create a smoother look. Use medium heat and low speed to avoid damaging your hair.
Step5
Repeat Steps 3 and 4 until every section is dry and straight.

Tips & Warnings

  • For an ultra-sleek hair, run a flatiron over your hair once it's completely dry. It will be easier to manage if you put it into several sections.
  • Don't blow dry your hair every day. Giving your hair a break will prevent heat damage.
