How to Stuff the Pillow to Finish Making Your Own Decorative Pillow

A decorative pillow can be stuffed with a pillow form, polyester fiber filling or chopped foam. A pillow form requires that the cover be carefully measured to fit the form, but a pillow stuffed with polyester fiber or chopped foam can be any size and is easier to stuff.

Instructions

1. Purchase a bag of polyester fiber filling or foam chunks from a craft of fabric store.

2. Tear off some of the polyester fiber and fluff it until it's a loose mass or grab a handful of foam chunks.

3. Push the stuffing into the opening in the cover. Add more until it's almost as full as you want.

4. Reach into the opening and push some of the stuffing against the seams of the cover on all sides. If you have a square pillow cover, use a finger or two to fill the corners with stuffing until they are firm.

5. Continue adding stuffing until the pillow is as full as you want. Move the stuffing around until the pillow has a smooth shape.

Tips & Warnings

• To make a pillow using a pillow form, make the cover slightly smaller than the form so it will fit tightly.

• When stuffing a pillow with a pillow form, don't rip the seam on either side of the opening in the cover. Depending on the size of the form, you may want to leave a larger opening when sewing the cover.
