Step 1
Wash and stainguard your fabric before sewing. This will make sure that all of the extra dyes and strings in your fabric get worked out before you place it on your furniture.
-
Step 2
Lay your fabric on a clean, flat surface. Make sure that the pattern of the fabric, also called the "right side" of the fabric faces you. This right side will be the side you want people to see on your finished pillow.
-
Step 3
Fold the fabric in half, either by length or width. Do not fold your fabric on an angle. Now the right sides of the fabric are facing one another, and the dull wrong side of the fabric is facing you.
-
Step 4
Press the crease you just made. You may want to use a steam setting on your iron to make the crease as flat as possible.
-
Step 5
Move your fabric back to your work surface. Now you're ready to start cutting your fabric to make a decorative pillow.
