In the Sleeper, the most basic yo-yo trick, the yo-yo stays at the bottom of the string and spins. Since the Sleeper is included in many other tricks, it is important that you practice and master the technique before moving on to more complicated challenges.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Use a slip knot to attach the string to the middle finger of the hand you write with. The string should be situated between the first and second knuckle and tight on your finger. Make sure that the string is coming over the top of the yo-yo and is not positioned under it.

  2. Step 2

Hold the yo-yo in your hand with your palm up and curl your middle finger around it. Make a muscle with your arm so your elbow is pointing forward and the yo-yo is at your shoulder.

  3. Step 3

Throw the yo-yo firmly forward and down so your arm is now straight out in front of you and your palm is up. Do this action smooth without bouncing your arm up.

  4. Step 4

Hold your hand still without tugging up on the string. The yo-yo will spin at the bottom of the string.

  5. Step 5

Let your yo-yo sleep for a few seconds at the bottom of the string. To bring your yo-yo back up, turn your hand palm down and give a little pull on your middle finger.
