Defy the laws of gravity when you learn to do the yo-yo breakaway trick. When properly executed, your yo-yo seems to be suspended in midair for a moment. The breakaway is a cool trick that can be mastered even by beginners.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Slip your finger through the loop at the end of the yo-yo string. Cup the yo-yo in the palm of your hand.

  2. Step 2

Face your palm upwards, and bend your arm at the elbow. Position your arm as you would working your biceps with weights.

  3. Step 3

Swing your forearm and release the yo-yo simultaneously. Quickly drop your elbow down. Watch for the yo-yo to swing outward and then down.

  4. Step 4

Swing your arm in an arc to the left side of your body if you are right handed. Swing your arm in an arc to the right side of your body if you use your left hand to yo-yo.

  5. Step 5

Allow the yo-yo to soar through the air in front of your body. Let the yo-yo make a complete swing to the opposite side of your body.

  6. Step 6

Let the yo-yo linger in midair, at the end of it's string, for a moment. Watch for the yo-yo to decrease in speed, and yank on the string to roll the yo-yo back up the string.
