You can use wire wrapping to create a distinctive piece of jewelry. You can make the piece as simple or ornate as you prefer. A necklace pendant can be an easy project, although it will look as if you spent weeks making the final product.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • 20-gauge wire
  • Needlenose pliers
  • Anvil or steel plate
  • Hammer
  • Metal file
  • Beads
  • Wire cutters
  1. Step 1

Cut a length of wire long enough to hold your beads and to create two loops. The smaller loop will hold the beads at the end of your necklace pendant, while the other is a bit larger and will connect the pendant to your necklace.

  2. Step 2

Hold the end of your wire with a pair of needlenose pliers and wrap the wire around the thinest part of your plier nose. Either flatten the loop so that it is not easily seen, or bend it to hang perfectly centered at the bottom of your wire, adding a decorative touch to your pendant.

  3. Step 3

Instead of looping the end of your wire by hammering the end flat, create an alternative end. Set the end of the wire on an anvil or steel plate and gently hammer the wire flat to the desired thickness. If making more than one pendant, hammer them all at the same time to create an even thickness. When finished, use a file to smooth and round the edges.

  4. Step 4

Slip your beads onto the wire and finish the pendant with a large even loop. Hold the wire with your needlenose pliers at the thickness of your desired loop size. For a completely closed loop, leave a small space between the base of the loop and the top bead. Wrap some excess wire around the stem wire to create a hangman's noose and snip the excess wire.
