Vegan recipes contain no meat or dairy products. Finding a dessert that's made this way and that tastes delicious can take some trial and error. Make this tasty chocolate mousse with avocados to get a smooth, somewhat firm consistency.

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • 2 ripe avocados
  • 1 package silken tofu
  • 2 tsp. vanilla
  • 2 tbsp. maple syrup
  • 2 cups melted chocolate chips
  1. Step 1

Peel the avocados and cut them in half lengthwise. Scoop out the pits with a spoon and discard them. With very ripe avocados, you can pick out the pits with your fingers.

  2. Step 2

Allow the tofu to reach room temperature and put it into a blender or food processor. Add vanilla, syrup and avocados and mix until everything is completely combined.

  3. Step 3

Add the melted chocolate chips and mix well. Place your vegan chocolate mousse into a pie crust, or layer it in dessert dishes with whipped topping or fruit.

Tips & Warnings
  • You can determine whether an avocado is ripe by placing it lengthwise between your thumb and fingers and squeezing gently. A ripe avocado should be slightly soft.
  • Don't substitute soft tofu for the silken tofu in this recipe. Soft tofu is much more solid than the silken tofu and makes your chocolate mousse too firm.
