If you're trying to land a new job, dress to impress. This should include a freshly pressed suit and a necktie. If you don't know how to tie a necktie, you're in luck. Building an eye-catching knot does not require great skill.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Drape the necktie around the back of your neck. The wider portion of the necktie should hang longer than the thinner side. If you need to adjust the length of the two sides, simply pull the necktie into place.

  2. Step 2

Cross the longer part of the necktie over the top of the shorter piece. The point two at which the two pieces cross will be the base of the knot.

  3. Step 3

Wrap the longer piece of the necktie behind the shorter piece. Bring the longer piece up through the gap between the necktie and your neck. The wide piece of the necktie should now be laying over the top of the previously crossed pieces.

  4. Step 4

Locate the loop that was created with crossing over the two ends previously. If the loop seems tight, use your fingers to loosen it up.

  5. Step 5

Continue building the knot. Pull the wide portion of the necktie through the loop. Keep the necktie material wrinkle free. This will help create a smooth knot.

  6. Step 6

Tug on the two ends of the necktie to tighten the knot. This technique will move the knot near the neck and secure it.
