Things You'll Need:
- Cement stepping stone or other similar material for base
- Liquid Nail carpentry glue
- Caulk gun
- Broken ceramic tile pieces
- Gloves
-
Step 1
Purchase your materials at the local home supply store. You can make your own ceramic pieces from old pottery pieces if you wish or you can ask for scrap pieces from a contractor.
-
Step 2
Decide if you want a specific design pattern on your stepping stone or if you want a "crazy quilt" mosaic with randomly placed colors. Play with the design until you find a pattern that you like.
-
Step 3
Lay out your tiles on the cement stepping stone. Make adjustments as need to get all the pieces to fit. There should be no more than ΒΌ inch separating all the tile pieces.
-
Step 4
Load the caulk gun with Liquid Nails or some other form of waterproof glue. Make a small hole in the tip of the Liquid Nail product to open it.
-
Step 5
Squeeze a small amount of Liquid Nail onto the cement stepping stone. Place the first ceramic piece into place. Or you can squeeze the Liquid Nail product onto the ceramic tile and then place the tile on the stepping stone.
-
Step 6
Continue gluing the tiles into place. If you need to move them slightly to get them all to fit, you need to move fast before the glue dries. Let the ceramic pieces dry thoroughly before proceeding to Step 7.
-
Step 7
Apply cement product as grout. Wipe off the excess. Let the project dry. Enjoy your new stepping stone.
