Having your snorkeling mask fog on you repeatedly is annoying and can keep you from enjoying an otherwise great day in the water. A few treatments to your mask before you hit the water will keep your snorkel mask from fogging.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Prepare your mask by washing it with a mild dish detergent before using it for the first time. This will get rid of any manufacturing residue and reduce fogging.

  2. Step 2

Spit inside your snorkel mask, rub it all over the lens with your finger and rinse. Doing this before you enter the water helps to keep your mask clear. Do this again in the water if your mask starts to fog up after you've been snorkeling.

  3. Step 3

Apply anti-fog drops to your mask before entering the water. The drops are available at most sporting goods stores. Some experts feel these don't work any better than your own spit, but it is an alternative.

  4. Step 4

Flood your mask with water while you are snorkeling if you find it's fogged despite your preparation. Whether you've used commercial drops or spit to prepare you mask, both will wash off. You may have to reapply spit or use the drops again to keep your mask from fogging.
