Step 1
Make adjustments to your board by tightening or loosening the trucks or even changing the bearing and wheels. Experiment with a different deck on your setup to find the right configuration since a comfortable, natural board does the most for your ollie style.
-
Step 2
Improve your ollie height by popping your back foot harder and jumping higher. Even if this is messy at first in the end it allows you to add slight movements for style.
-
Step 3
Tweak your ollie by popping your back foot hard, letting the nose of the board angle up until the pinnacle of the ollie. Push down on the nose of your board just after the peak of the ollie so that the result is an ollie that moves in a well defined arch instead of staying flat.
-
Step 4
Twist your hips so that they open up to bring your body facing forward just after you ollie for a frontside shifty ollie. Twist your hips back to a closed, sideways facing position just before you land to complete the shifty to add huge style to your skateboarding and ollying.
-
Step 5
Backside shifty in your ollie by rotating your hips toward your front leg so your back moves toward your forward direction. Turn back so that you return to a sideways position to complete the backside shifty.
