The frontside 180 is a trick that can score you big points at the skate park or on the street if you can pull it off and land it. Combining the jump of an ollie with a 180 twist that begins with your back foot, the 180 spins you through the air and even over an obstacle.

Difficulty: Challenging
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Get some speed. To start the frontside 180 you need some forward motion on your skateboard. Start at a moderate speed that you can control and that allows you to perform a solid ollie.

  2. Step 2

Twist inward. Just before you ollie, twist your upper body a little by bringing your back arm across your chest and letting your torso follow it. This gives you a head start in the 180 and encourages your hips and feet to follow your upper body in the spin.

  3. Step 3

Ollie and spin. Pop the skateboard with your back foot giving some kick with your heel to spin the board. Swing your back arm forward and rotate your hips as you jump so your back foot goes through the 180 to move to the front position. Keep the board under control and with you the whole time.

  4. Step 4

Land with your back foot forward. A slight bend in your knees helps ease your landing. If you have trouble with the landing, practice ollying with your back foot leading the ollie and what's usually your front foot popping the board in the back.

  5. Step 5

Keep riding. To execute the trick smoothly and to make it look as good as possible continue riding after the frontside 180. To return back to your starting position, do the trick in reverse.
