Homemade crafts and floral arrangements are usually finished off with one of several types of bows. One of the easiest bows to make is the single loop bow.

Difficulty: Moderate
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Two-sided ribbon
  • 28-gauge wire (3 inches long)
  • Complementing ribbon
  1. Step 1

Decide which side of the ribbon is going to be visible on the outside of the bow.

  2. Step 2

Measure the length of the bow tail. Pinch the ribbon and make a loop the desired length. Pinch the two pieces of ribbon together.

  3. Step 3

Twist the ribbon so desired design is on the exterior of bow. Make a second loop and bring the end to the middle and pinch the three pieces of ribbon together. Adjust loops and tail length until they are all the desired length. Cut tails, if necessary.

  4. Step 4

Wrap wire around middle of ribbon. Twist wire in back of bow and wrap around bow one more time. Make sure to keep wire tight.

  5. Step 5

Tie a piece of complementing ribbon around middle of bow, hiding wire.

  6. Step 6

Trim ends of bow into desired shape. The most appealing look is a notched, reverse pennant look.

  7. Step 7

Create an alternate look by adding more loops by following the steps above. The bow will be fuller and puffier.

Tips & Warnings
  • Bow may need to be played with a bit to have desired look. Be patient, the bow will take form with a little twisting and tweaking.
  • The bow will hold its shape better if wired ribbon is used. This type of ribbon is also easier to manipulate into the desired look initially.
