Scrapbooking is a fun hobby that gives you the opportunity to preserve your memories in a creative, stylish way. Photos are a primary component of any scrapbook. Use the information below to learn how to accent pictures and photos in your next project.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Choose colors carefully. Spend some time examining the picture you're working on. Look for the main colors in the photo and select paper and accessories that will complement those colors. If you're placing multiple pictures on a single page, look for a unifying hue to tie the photos together.

  2. Step 2

Place a matte behind the photo. Trim the matte so it's a quarter of an inch bigger than the picture on every side. Then, lay your picture on top of the matte. You can attach the pieces together with a glue stick or double stick tape.

  3. Step 3

Cut photos and mattes to form different shapes. Instead of the usual rectangle, try a square, circle or oval. Visit a scrapbooking store and purchase a corner rounder to quickly round the corners of your photos.

  4. Step 4

Buy some ribbon or yarn. Cut pieces of the material and attach them around the edge of the picture with a hot glue gun.

  5. Step 5

Shop for stickers and stamps that complement the picture. For example, if you're working with a photo of your child in a soccer game, buy some soccer ball stickers to place strategically around the page.

  6. Step 6

Write headlines and captions next to the picture. Use brightly colored ink or marker for a festive picture and darker ink for a more serious photo.

  7. Step 7

Choose original accessories to really accent the picture. Brads, twine, wood, leaves and more can all be incorporated into a scrapbook.
