This quick method of pre-salting pumping seeds gives your seeds a nice salted flavor all the way through. Pre-salting before roasting allows the salt to soak through to the inside seed, so whether you like whole seed or only the inside, you can always taste the salt.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • 2 cups water
  • Small saucepan
  • 2 tbs. salt
  • 1/2 cup pumpkin seeds
  • Colander
  • Baking sheet
  1. Step 1

Pour 2 cups of water into a small saucepan. Boil the water on the stove with the pan uncovered.

  2. Step 2

Stir in 2 tbs. salt and continue to boil until the salt completely dissolves. Add 1/2 cup of pumpkin seeds.

  3. Step 3

Simmer your seeds on medium high heat uncovered for 10 minutes. The pumpkin seeds turn gray when they're salted through.

  4. Step 4

Drain your pre-salted pumpkin seeds in a colander. You don't need to rinse the pumpkin seeds.

  5. Step 5

Spread your drained seeds on a baking sheet for roasting. Roast your pumpkin seeds before they dry completely.

Tips & Warnings
  • You can use either kosher salt or table salt for pre-salting your pumpkin seeds.
  • Pumpkin seeds float, eliminating the need for a nonstick pan or spray.
