1
Start your grilling process with a clean grill. Remove or clean the ashes from previous charcoals and wood chips prior to adding new charcoals or wood chips to grill again. Scrape the old debris off the metal rack where the meats cook, before lighting the grill.
-
2
Cook steaks, chicken, hamburgers and hot dogs by using standard natural lump charcoal. Most lump charcoals come ready to light to make it easy to get your grilled meal underway.
-
3
Use charcoal briquettes if you need to keep your grill burning for a longer time. The briquettes burn slower and don't produce the searing heat that the quicker to burn, lump charcoals do.
-
4
Add flavor to your grilled or smoked meats by using wood chips. Use the wood chips in a grill along with lump charcoal or charcoal briquettes as well as in a smoker.
-
5
Soak wood chips in water before you add them into the grill or smoker. The wood chips come in a variety of woods that give cooked or smoked meats wonderful flavors. Some of the types of wood chips available are plum wood, maple, apple wood, hickory, mesquite and orange. Smoked ribs and briskets are even more flavorful when you use wood chips to enhance the flavor of the meat.
