Playing pool depends on hitting the cue ball. Rack up all the balls on the table except the white ball. This is the cue ball. Use the cue ball to strike the other balls causing them to eventually land in the pockets on the pool table.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Practice striking the cue ball with your cue stick. Go to a pool hall or tavern and practice playing alone or buy a pool table for your recreation room.

  2. Step 2

Hold the cue stick with your dominant hand grasping the thick part. Pick up the stick with your hand over the stick. Grasp with your thumb touching the stick and your other fingers wrapped around the stick.

  3. Step 3

Use your other hand to guide the stick. Place your thumb and index finger on the pool table, making a semi circle on the table, and allow the pointer end of the cue stick to go between them.

  4. Step 4

Position the cue ball. Place the cue ball on the table anywhere you like behind the first line.

  5. Step 5

Aim your cue stick at the center of the cue ball. Draw the stick back and then push forward providing speed until you contact the cue ball.

  6. Step 6

Take your next shot. You must shoot the cue ball from wherever it lands. Line it up with the ball you want to sink, draw back and shoot. Continue playing pool until you sink all the balls.

Tips & Warnings
  • Be careful not to hit another ball with your cue stick. Also, be careful not to touch the table. The cue stick may only touch the cue ball.
