Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Step1
Purchase a tripod for your camcorder at an electronics or retail store or on the Internet. Check your camera's owner's manual regarding mount compatibility. Ask for assistance if you're not sure what model tripod best suits your camcorder.
Step2
Select a location for your camcorder where you will have the best view and your tripod won't be in the way.
Step3
Follow the manufacturer's instructions and assemble your tripod. With your tripod at shoulder level, open the fasteners and extend one leg to the desired length.
Step4
Close the fasteners to secure the leg in position. For stability, extend the upper legs first, followed by the thinner, lower leg. With the tripod upright, release the other two legs to set all three at the same height.
Step5
Spread the tripod's legs and set it down. Apply pressure to the top of the tripod to verify that the legs are secure.
Step6
Mount your camcorder by sliding the camera plate into the top of the tripod head until the red release button clicks. Turn the locking knob clockwise to lock the plate in place.
Step7
Adjust the platform so it is exactly horizontal. If your tripod doesn't have a level, look through your camcorder's viewfinder to see if it is leaning to one side.
Step8
Turn your camcorder on and start recording.
