  1. Step 1

    Comb the sideburn forward.

  2. Step 2

Use the electric trimmers to create a vertical line and trim the sideburn.

  3. Step 3

Use a comb to comb the sideburn back towards the head and hold the sideburn hair in place with the comb.

  4. Step 4

Trim the sideburn hair straight up the comb, being sure to follow the line of the ear.

  5. Step 5

Move the sideburn hair forward with the comb and trim the hair with electric trimmers.

  6. Step 6

Reverse the sideburn hair back again with the comb, and trim the sideburn hair up the comb.

Repeat Steps 5 and 6 until you are satisfied with the look of the sideburn.

Brush sideburn hair straight down. Carefully press hair trimmer horizontally against the bottom edge of the sideburn and make an even cut to finish off the sideburn grooming.

Tips & Warnings
  • Groom your sideburns as needed when they appear to be too long or unruly.
  • Trimmers designed specifically for use on facial hair work well for trimming sideburns. Other trimmers can be too large and make trimming sideburns difficult.
  • You can also trim your sideburns using scissors and a comb. Follow the steps outlined in this article substituting the scissors for the electric trimmers.
  • Trim sideburns in front of a mirror. This will help guide you and allow you to see what you are doing.
