Many men assume that only women need to be concerned about facial care; however, maintaining a clean and clear face is important for men too. Healthy skin portrays youth and confidence, which are important characteristics in the workplace and relationships. Follow these steps to maintain a clean and clear face.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Select the right cleanser for your skin type. There are three skin types: oily, normal and combination.

  2. Step 2

Turn on your faucet, allowing it to run until the water is tepid. Wash your hands with soap and then splash your face with water.

  3. Step 3

Apply the cleanser to your fingertips, a clean washcloth or a facial-cleaning sponge.

  4. Step 4

Start above your eyes and wipe the cleanser in an upward motion, over your forehead and towards your hairline.

  5. Step 5

Begin just below your eyes and wipe in a downward motion over your cheeks. Repeat until you've thoroughly cleaned both cheeks.

  6. Step 6

Scrub your temple areas and neck with cleanser.

  7. Step 7

Rinse your face and neck with tepid water.

  8. Step 8

Blot your skin with a clean towel until it is completely dry.

Tips & Warnings
  • Blot your face with a tissue after waking to determine skin type. Oily residue on the tissue suggests oily skin and flakes suggest dry skin. Flakes around the cheeks and upper forehead with oil around the nose and chin, suggest combination skin.
  • Apply cleanser over facial hair just as you would apply it to shaved skin.
  • Follow cleansing with a moisturizer appropriate for your skin type.
  • Don't use plain soap to clean your face. Medicated soap is acceptable if it matches your skin type.
  • Don't scrub your skin.
