Step 1
Set up in your kickboxing stance with feet more than shoulder width apart. Keep your hands up in your chosen guarded stance and your eyes on your opponent's eyes or upper body and not on his legs.
-
Step 2
Sidestep away from the kick beginning with the leg farthest from your opponent's kicking leg and following with the second leg. Dip into the sidestep a little by bending each knee sequentially so you can get underneath your opponent's leg.
-
Step 3
Extend your arm on the same side as your opponent's kicking leg as if you're going for a punch. Instead of following through with the punch, however, make a circle down and around your opponent's leg. Close your arm around the leg and lock it by pressing your closed fist against your stomach.
-
Step 4
Counterattack opportunistically by launching head punches, elbows to the leg, kicks to the opponent's standing leg and body shots with your fist, knee and elbow. Between your punching attacks and during your leg attacks keep your free hand up at your guard to deflect any punch attempts from your opponent.
-
Step 5
Take your opponent down by rotating your hips towards your opponent and moving the leg on the same side as your opponent's standing leg between her legs. Push forward on your opponent's chest as you sweep her leg from behind the knee. Keep your opponent on the ground with head attacks or kicks.
