1
Set the trust rod on the guitar so the strings have room to vibrate. Re-tune the guitar if needed. Sometimes adjusting the thrust bar effects the tune of the guitar.
-
2
Turn the pickup selector knob to point to the neck position on the guitar. The pick up selector knob is located on the body of the guitar.
-
-
3
Move the tone control knob to a lower setting. The degree of change on the knob varies from guitar to guitar. Experiment with the tone knob to find the exact position for the jazz sound you are looking for. Jazz sounds are generally mellow and full tone.
-
4
Make the frets smooth and tight. Check the frets before playing to ensure they are glued down. If you need it, purchase glue for the frets at a music store.
-
5
Plug the guitar straight into the amp or sound system. The jazz guitar does not need foot pedals.
-
6
Pick the string close to the neck of the guitar for the best jazz sound. Playing the guitar close to the neck gives the pitch of a jazz guitar.
