1
Plan the placement of the drain before you install the dishwasher if you can. The manufacturer will list where the drain must be in the installation instructions so the dishwasher pump drain operates correctly.
-
2
Attach the drain to the bottom of the dishwasher following the manufacturer's directions, unless this was done at the factory for you. If your dishwasher did not come with a drain hose, one can be purchased at your local home improvement center.

3
Route the drain through the cabinet by drilling a hole in the side of the cabinet just slightly larger than the drain line end. Install the drain no higher than what is recommended in the directions, or you could have drain water backing up into your dishwasher.

4
Use a utility knife to cut the end of your drain line to the line indicated to match the size of drain stub coming out of your kitchen sink. Make sure you don't cut too much at first and test-fit the drain on the stub until it fits correctly.
-
5
Clamp the drain onto the drain stub using a hose clamp. Tighten the hose clamp by turning the screw until the drain hose is firmly attached but not crushed or ripped by the hose clamp.
