How to Style Hair With a Brush and Hair Dryer

Many of today's styles can be achieved simply by mastering the use of a brush and hairdryer. Learning these techniques will not only help you to look fashionable but may even get you out the door faster in the morning.

Instructions

1. Research the different types of hair dryers that are available and choose one that's recommended for your hair type and style. You should look for one that has variable heat and speed settings to aid in styling your hair with a brush and hair dryer.

2. Look for a brush with a metal barrel. This will be heated by the hair dryer and allow you to style your hair more easily.

3. Wrap your wet hair in a towel and squeeze out any excess water. Rubbing your hair with a towel can be damaging and isn't recommended.

4. Try a product designed to help you achieve the style you want and work that through your hair. You might consider also using a leave-in conditioner that will protect your hair from the high heat of the dryer.

5. Start at the back of the head and dry hair in sections, pulling the brush through the hair gently from root to ends for a straight, sleek look. If you want more curl or wave, wrap the hair around the brush and hold the dryer over it until the barrel heats up.

6. Lock the curl in place by using the cool setting on your dryer for a moment and holding the brush in the hair without the dryer for a moment to let the barrel cool a little more.

7. Continue with the sides and end with the top of your head and bangs. When your hair is completely dry, brush it into place. Set it with a product such as hair spray or pomade to hold your style.
