You can cut hair with a razor instead of shears if you like, and you can get the same type of effect. Many men and women would rather go to a professional hairstylist then do it themselves. You can do it for a friend if you learn how to cut hair with a razor from this informative article.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Wash your clients or friends hair thoroughly before you begin the cut. Use a healthy shampoo and conditioner. You can cut both women's and men's hair with a razor if they have shorter hair.

  2. Step 2

Take a piece on the bottom area of the hair and comb it, then comb it under and then on top to make sure it is smooth. Then apply the razor and use medium tension to cut the hair smoothly.

  3. Step 3

Move around the bottom area of the head and repeat the same actions. Start moving towards the middle area of the head and elevate your cutting. Lift the hair so that you do not cut the same area you did beforehand.

  4. Step 4

Always keep your client's or friend's hair wet during the cutting process. Move around the head and keep applying the razor action. Keep medium tension on the middle and lower areas of the hair and head.

  5. Step 5

Move to the top of the head and lift the hair so that you avoid cutting the middle area again. Mix the hair up to provide texture. Then move to the front of the hair. When you apply your razor, keep the tension to a minimum because you want to be careful around the bangs area.
