Everyone appreciates a beautifully wrapped gift. One way to make a gift look great is to decorate it with a curly bow. Curly bows are good for gifts for every event. It's also very easy to make a curly bow if you follow a few simple steps.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  1. Step 1

Unroll a generous amount of ribbon but don't cut it from the roll. There's no set amount, and the length you pull will depend on the size of your gift. It's always better to unroll a little too much than not enough.

  2. Step 2

Lay the ribbon across the top of the package. Pull snug. Then flip over the package, criss-cross the ribbon in the back, and flip the package over again.

  3. Step 3

Cut the ribbon. Make sure you leave enough to create the beginning of an attractive bow. Tie the ribbon with a regular knot.

  4. Step 4

Loosen two- or three-foot lengths of ribbon from the roll. Cut as many pieces as you want of this length. The more pieces you cut, the larger bow you'll make.

  5. Step 5

Hold all the strands together with your grasp approximately in the middle. Then wrap the strands around the first ribbon and double knot the strands to it.

  6. Step 6

Open your scissors and quickly scrape one blade across the underside of each ribbon while holding the ribbon between your thumb and the scissor blade. Pull it fast to make the ribbon curl.

  7. Step 7

Repeat Step 6 for the other strands.

Tips & Warnings
  • Make a big bow by adding more ribbon on top. Ribbon pieces for the bow don't need to be the same length. Varied lengths can make a fuller looking bow.
  • Create a rainbow colored bow by using different colors of ribbon.
  • The tighter you hold the scissors to your thumb in Step 9, the tighter the curls will be.
