Step 1
Clean the cement wall, floor and ceiling where the newly framed wall will be placed. Remove any debris or dust and make sure all of the areas are dry to avoid trapping moisture behind the wall.
-
Step 2
Lay a generous amount of construction adhesive along the floor where your wall will sit once you raise it. This helps secure the frame into place and helps to prevent warping over time.
-
Step 3
Situate the framed wall so the bottom is close to the final position where it will rest. Positioning the wall while it lies flat is much easier than trying to maneuver it into place when it's upright.
-
Step 4
Stand over the top-center of the wall and place your hands under its top edge. If the wall is very long, you may need a few helpers to lift the weight of the wall.
-
Step 5
Lift the wall as high as your waist. Turn your hands so the top of the wall is seated in your palms and your fingers are pointed toward the ceiling.
-
Step 6
Walk the wall up until it's in position. Try to lift the wall rather than slide it. You want to walk the top upright so the bottom tips onto the adhesive you put down earlier.
-
Step 7
Force each stud tightly against the outer wall to make sure your final interior wall is even and not bulging or rippling. If needed, you can use a hammer to force the frame into place. Check each individual stud to see that it's seated up against the exterior wall.
