Step 1
Spread a deck of cards in front of you, either on the table or in your hands.
-
Step 2
Have someone select a card from the deck.
-
Step 3
Square up the deck in your hand. Hold it from underneath with your fingers on the sides and your pinkie near the corner.
-
Step 4
Have the participant slide their card back into the deck.
-
Step 5
Slide the card into the deck; but instead of pushing it square with the rest of the deck, slide it from the corner opposite your pinkie. The corner of the card should protrude slightly from the rest of the stack.
-
Step 6
Push the chosen card up or down with your pinkie to make a break in the deck. From the front the deck should be held tight to hide the break from the other person.
-
Step 7
Keep your pinkie on the card as you cut the deck or otherwise continue your trick. Your pinkie marks the location of your card. You can now perform false cuts or shuffles while keeping track of the chosen card.
