Step 1
Get into position before the ball is snapped. As a running back, you should be a yard or two behind the quarterback.

Bend your knees and lean forward so your torso is tilted forward, not quite parallel to the ground. Keep your spine straight.

Place one hand on the ground, with only your fingertips touching the ground. Keep your hand in line with or slightly in front of your shoulder. Place your other hand on your thigh or hip.

Step 4
Keep both feet flat on the ground. Your three points of contact should be both feet and one hand. Have your stronger leg forward of your other leg so you can move quickly into play once the ball is snapped.

Step 5
Raise your head in order to keep your eyes on the defensive players and to see when the ball is snapped. Hold this three point stance until play begins.
