Step 1
Gain the right of way by executing a normal thrust. You must remember that fencing requires you to firmly establish the right of attack and a thrust is the logical first step.
-
Step 2
Continue the fleche attack by moving through the lunge in a fluid motion, shifting the majority of your weight from your back leg to your front. This will allow you a solid stance for the remainder of the assault.
-
Step 3
Cross your back leg over your forward thrusted leg while you keep your foil fully extended. This allows you to reach deeply into your opponent's defense.
-
Step 4
Bring your original thrusted foot back ahead so that you move without interruption toward the defender. The real advantage in the fleche is its momentum.
-
Step 5
Bend as you follow through with the attack, minimizing your exposed target area. Standing upright can result in a parry and easy counterattack for your fencing opponent.
