Final Cut Pro allows you to import still images and work with them. Using the Import feature in FCP's file menu, you can save photos in a variety of resolutions and quality settings. You can also choose to download image files in a .jpeg, giff , tiff or other formats. Read on to learn how to import a still image into FCP.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Save your image in a graphics program in the RGB mode. This is necessary because Final Cut Pro does not recognize the CMYK color scale. Also make sure that your picture is saved to the same drive as all your other media files.

  2. Step 2

Go to the Final Cut Pro menu and click on "File." Select "Import" and then "Files."

  3. Step 3

Navigate to the folder that holds your still images. Select and double click the file that you want to import into your project.

  4. Step 4

Open "File" on the menu again, and select "Show Info" to adjust the duration of the clip to your desired length.

  5. Step 5

Drag the file into the viewer and continue with your project or use the save option.

Tips & Warnings
  • It is best to limit the image size to 300dpi. The larger the image you import, the slower Final Cut Pro will run because it will have to adjust the picture for each frame of video.
  • Finish editing your images before you import them into Final Cut Pro.
  • Don't use extra large files as they can crash Final Cut Pro.
