The simple children's song of "Twinkle Twinkle Little Star" is one of the most useful songs for learning to play any instrument. The tune is known and remembered by virtually everyone.   1. Step 1

    Start the tune with an open G played on the G string. Play the G twice. Continue with playing a D twice, an E twice before going back down to a D half-note, two C notes, two B notes, two A notes and a G half-note. Finish the song using these notes, all quarter-notes with the exception of a couple half-notes.

  2. Step 2

    Play "Twinkle Twinkle Little Star" in another scale. Start it with two C notes, followed by two G notes, two A notes and a G half-note. Come back down with two F notes, two E notes, two D notes and a C half note.

  3. Step 3

    Try the song in the key of E. Play it with the notes E, B, C, B, A, G, F and E respectively. Continue the tune using those notes.

  4. Step 4

    Apply any notes to the tune. Move up and down in a scale practicing this song. Use the same patterns and note progression in each scale to help you learn your key fingerings.

  5. Step 5
