Draw Cartoon Characters by Adding Feet

Perhaps you have enough skill to start a cartoon drawing, but aren't sure how to add feet. This hurdle keeps many from finishing a project but it shouldn't stop you. Read on to learn how to draw cartoon characters by adding feet.

Instructions

    • 1

Begin by sketching the basic shape of the feet at the bottom of your character's leg. This shape should be situated so it appears as though your character stands on the very end of it, with only a small sliver on the inside of the leg. Do this for both legs.

    • 2

Decide where you would like the shoe laces to tie and add a small figure eight to that spot. Draw it crooked, as a small child might make it. One section of the figure eight should be on top of the shoe while the other dips below.

    • 3

Start at the base of your figure eight and add tiny V shapes to mimic the laces going down the length of the shoe. You can make as many or as few of these as you like. Do both shoes for symmetry.

    • 4

Add any embellishments you might like at this point, such as ventilation holes, heels or rubber soles. You have now successfully drawn the basic shoe form. Practice before moving on to more sophisticated footwear.
