Utilize your waiter. Ask them for the daily specials, if you're interested. If you're still unsure of what to order, ask the waiter for his or her recommendations. Remember, the waiter is there to serve you and provide you with the information you need to order the food you want. If you need to have a certain dish described in more detail or have questions about a particular method of cooking, ask your waiter.

Tell your waiter whether the checks are together or separate before everyone begins ordering. This way, the waiter can write things down using the system they prefer and won't have to go back through and separate or combine orders.

    • 3

Mind your manners. Don't say, "Give me the prime rib." Instead, say "May I please have the prime rib." Always say "Thank you."

Remember to remind children to be polite, too. Depending upon the age of the child, your expectations will obviously vary. Teach young children to use a quiet voice and say please and thank you when they request something. Older children and teenagers can order for themselves and should be able to handle the same etiquette rules as adults.
