  • Dry brush
  • Thermal space blanket
  • Warm wool blanket
  • Two warm bath towels

  1. Step 1

Dissolve about 1 cup of detoxing herbs such as rosemary, cloves, allspice, ginger root, nettle, parsley, sage or juniper in approximately 16 quarts of hot water (165 degrees F) to make a strong tea. Use any combination of herbs you wish. Heat the water in a roaster oven.

  2. Step 2

Fold two wrap sheets made of cotton or cotton and linen (not flannel) into tight squares. Place the folded wrap sheets in the hot herbal tea for 20 minutes.

  3. Step 3

Ask client to put on disposable undergarments. Dry brush the skin with strokes going toward the heart. This removes dead skin.

  4. Step 4

Wring out the wrap sheets and quickly wrap the client in them. Place the thermal space blanket around the sheets, then wrap with the wool blanket. Wrap one of the towels around the head, leaving the eyes, nose and mouth uncovered. Wrap the other towel around the feet.

  5. Step 5

Leave the body wrap on for 20 to 30 minutes, depending on the comfort level of the client.

  6. Step 6

Remove the towels, blankets and one sheet and allow the client's body temperature to return to normal. Provide room temperature water to drink.

  7. Step 7

Massage the client with gel or a light cream, allowing the body to continue to perspire. Allow the client to rest as long as desired before getting dressed.
