Cubase is a software program that allows the user to digitally edit music and music sequences and is a very important component of any home recording studio. There are many different versions to choose from dating back to 1989. One of the most commonly used versions currently is Cubase SX3. Use the tips below for setting up the program.

Difficulty: Moderate
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Set up inputs and outputs after downloading the program. This needs to be done before using the program.

  2. Step 2

Click on "Devices" at the top. Scroll down to "Devices Setup," and click on it. A white window pops up. There are folders to choose from on the left.

  3. Step 3

Click on the "MIDI" folder on the left. This brings up all of your MIDI files, which are your music files. This is how you can manage, enable and disable them.

  4. Step 4

Set up default MIDI files so that each time you save files, they save to a default location. This helps in that each time a change is needed, you do not need to search through an entire library of music files.

  5. Step 5

Set up audio and sound card by clicking on "Vista Audio" folder on the left. This brings up a list of drivers needed for your sound card.

  6. Step 6

Click on the name of your Audio card. Select the "Control Panel." This brings up a large list of options that you need to go through prior to recording. All of these settings depend on your sound cards and equipment used.
