Brown sugar is very easy to make, convenient and economical. If you know how to make it, you can avoid having to make a trip to the grocery store when a recipe calls for it and it's not on your pantry shelf. Read on to learn how to make brown sugar.

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Mixing bowl
  • Fork or electric hand mixer
  • Measuring cup
  • Sugar
  • Measuring spoon
  • Molasses
  • Spatula
  1. Step 1

    Get a mixing bowl and a fork or an electric hand mixer. Set aside.

  2. Step 2

    Measure 1 cup sugar and place in the mixing bowl.

  3. Step 3

    Add 1 tbsp. molasses into the mixing bowl with the sugar.

  4. Step 4

    Use a fork or an electric hand mixer (at medium speed) to mix the sugar and molasses until thoroughly blended.

  5. Step 5

    Scrape the sides of the bowl with a spatula, and then continue to mix until the sugar and molasses are well mixed.

  6. Step 6

    Add an additional 1 tbsp. molasses to the mixture, if you prefer a darker shade of brown sugar, and continue to mix until well blended.

  7. Step 7

    Enjoy your homemade brown sugar right from your kitchen.
