The bunny hop into a manual takes two basic BMX tricks and combines them into a smooth, impressive move that can bring your BMX skills to the next level. Whether you're bunny hopping to manual onto a sidewalk, on a quarter ramp or even on the flat ground, follow these steps to perform the BMX trick with style and precision.

Difficulty: Moderately Challenging
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Start pedaling to get to a moderately fast speed. Stand up on the bike and lean slightly over the handlebars with your elbows slightly bent.

  2. Step 2

Pull up and back on the handlebars as you allow your hips to drop. Keep your upper body as close to straight up as possible in order to maintain balance as you enter into the manual. Try to get your front wheel between 6 inches and one foot off the ground.

  3. Step 3

Hop up onto the object by squeezing your legs together against the bike and doing a small jump. Keep your weight far enough back on the bike to keep yourself in the manual. Look straight ahead at the end of the object you're trying to bunny hop-manual onto.

  4. Step 4

Land on the back wheel and then either continue to manual or allow the front wheel to come back down so you can continue to pedal.

Tips & Warnings
  • Try to do the BMX bunny hop-manual onto a quarter pipe ramp deck since the ramp gives you the upward motion you need to both manual and bunny hop.
