How to Land a Double Peg Stall on a Ramp With a BMX Bike

You've mastered a carve on a BMX bike, so take it to the next level with a double peg stall. Though it can be done on handrails, it's much more fun and a bit safer to do on a ramp where you can stall both pegs on the coping and then ride back down. It's also great to learn as a basis for mastering several other more difficult tricks.

Difficulty: Challenging
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Head for the ramp at about the same speed you would for a carve.

  2. Step 2

Go three quarters of the way up the ramp and start turning your bike into the ramp but lean your body away from the ramp. It doesn't matter if you carve to the left or right prior to the peg stall, so just do whatever you're most comfortable with.

  3. Step 3

Stall both pegs on the coping. Once your pegs hit, center your body over your bike to hang there.

  4. Step 4

Complete the stall and turn the front wheel to drop back down the ramp.

Tips & Warnings
  • Be sure to master a carve prior to trying this trick. You don't want to have to think about which way to carve as you enter the ramp. A carve needs to come naturally so you can focus on learning the stall.
  • Don't worry if you have to put your foot down on the deck the first few times you try this. Just try it again and lean harder into the ramp next time.
  • As with all BMX trick riding, you should always wear a bike helmet, especially when trying new tricks. If you're a real novice, some knee pads or elbow pads could also be a good investment.
