The one eighty on a BMX bike is an impressive crowd pleaser that gateways into new and better tricks. With a bunny hop, a twist of the hips and a careful landing you can be pulling off a one eighty within a few days. Follow these steps to do a one eighty on your BMX bike.

Difficulty: Moderately Challenging
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Start pedaling at a moderate speed. Stand up on the bike just when you get to a stable speed. Crouch down by bending your knees and arms by about 30 degrees.

  2. Step 2

Pull up on the handle bars as you stand back into a nearly straight up position to execute a standard BMX bunny hop. Twist your head and your shoulders as you pull up so the bike starts to spin into the one eighty. Shove your hips in the opposite direction of the spin of the bike's front end to bring the rear around.

  3. Step 3

Land the trick and start to pedal backwards so the bike continues to move smoothly. Start to turn the handlebars very slightly (in whichever direction you choose) so the bike moves from a straight back direction to a slight backward turn. Before the front of the bike gets perpendicular to your original backward path, jerk the bike up and in the closest direction to a forward path.

  4. Step 4

Continue to pedal forward once you've brought the bike back to a forward direction so the trick is smooth and uninterrupted.

Tips & Warnings
  • Your initial hop needs to be only about one foot off the ground to perform the one eighty.
