The abubaca is similar to the tail tap on the BMX bike. However, because you go backwards, it's a little more challenging and requires a lot of practice. The abubaca is one of those tricks that looks very cool and will certainly attract some attention. Grab your gear and your BMX bike and get abubacaing.

Difficulty: Challenging
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Check your brakes. When you're doing the abubaca, brakes are essential. If you're brakes aren't in good shape, you cannot do this trick.

  2. Step 2

Go up the bike ramp at a pretty good clip.

  3. Step 3

Hit the coping, the edge the bike deck, and balance on your back wheel. Unlike the tail tap, you will stay facing the deck, with your back turned toward the ramp.

  4. Step 4

Stay on your back wheel by pressing the brakes really tightly.

  5. Step 5

Establish your balance point by centering your weight over the middle of the BMX bike.

  6. Step 6

Jump backwards into the ramp and allow your bike to roll backwards down to the bottom. Make sure your front tire is the last tire to hit the ramp. If your front tire hits first as you're doing an abubaca on a BMX bike, you're going to fly over your handlebars. Pedal backwards as you get better with the trick to give you some more momentum.

  7. Step 7

Turn your bike around by putting pressure on your chain and swing around so that you're going forward instead of back.

  8. Step 8

    Be safe. Wear your helmet.
