Step 1
Position your feet shoulder-width apart, with one foot slightly more forward, creating a back foot and a front foot.
-
Step 2
Hold your fists in guard position with both in front of you, shoulder-width apart, protecting your face. Place your arms in a vertical position with your elbows pointing downward.
-
Step 3
Crouch down in combat stance. You should bend your knees and position your feet so that they are ready to pounce.
-
Step 4
Drop you back shoulder and punch upward with your back arm. The move resembles a scooping motion, coming up into the chin of your opponent. When you throw a punch with your back arm, turn your back knee to protect it from dislocating.
-
Step 5
Rotate your hips with the punch. As your punch swings forward, so should your hips.
-
Step 6
Punch with your forward arm next. Drop your forward shoulder, swing forward with a scooping motion into your opponent's chin while simultaneously rotating that hip and turning in the forward knee.
-
Step 7
Adjust the tempo of your punches to vary the intensity. Begin with slow, intentional punches until you have the motion and then increase the tempo to increase your heart rate. Combine this punch with the jab, cross, hook and kicks to create an effective progression.
