Step 1
Stand with your left side facing toward your target or opponent, beginning with your feet about shoulder length apart in a kickboxing four-point stance. A four-point stance means your knees are slightly bent and your hands are up in preparation to defend yourself.
-
Step 2
Bring your right foot in just beyond your left foot, pointing your right heal directly towards your target. You must be very careful at this point of the stepping back kick, as you want to keep your upper thighs as close together as possible to protect your groin. As you bring your right foot in, bring your left arm just above your slightly bent belly to protect your stomach and your right arm just below your jaw to protect your face.
-
Step 3
Lift your left knee as if you were beginning a front kick and look over your shoulder as you push your weight onto your right foot and kick back with your left foot.
-
Step 4
Pivot on your right foot after completing the kickboxing stepping back kick and follow through with a left-right punch.
